FIRE PROTECTION

The rural municipality of Harris, the Village of Harris and the Village of Tessier participate in an inter-municipal agreement for fire protection with the Village of Harris.  The municipalities own a rural fire truck and pay an annual amount to the Village to share in the cost of the Harris and District Fire Department as per the agreement. See Bylaw P133/1981 for more details.  The Fire department is administered out of the Village Office.

Fire Department Members are volunteers from the urban and rural areas of Harris & Tessier which meet the second Tuesday of every month. Fire Chief is Garry Armstrong & Deputy Fire Chief is Glen Urban. There are currently 14 members. 

The R.M. of Harris also has the following agreements as stated in Bylaw 2/1991, Bylaw 5/1991, Bylaw 3/2002, Bylaw 4/2002, Bylaw 6/2002, Bylaw 1/2004 and Bylaw 2/2006.

EMERGENCY MUTUAL AID - E.M.O.

The Rural Municipality of Harris and the Village of Harris participate in an inter-municipal agreement to form the Harris EMO.  The participating municipalities share in the capital expenditures and ongoing expenses of a communication system and an emergency response unit.  

The E.M.O. has a board consisting of an appointed representative from each participating municipality and one community member. 

POLICE

The Rural Municipality of Harris is within the jurisdiction of the Rosetown RCMP. They can be contacted at 306-882-5700 outside of an emergency in which 9-1-1 shall be contacted.
